North Coast AVA

North Coast AVA ( recognized since 21 September 1983) is a nationwide wine-growing region in the U.S. state of California. The area extends north of San Francisco across the six administrative units of Lake County, Marin County, Mendocino County, Napa County, Sonoma County and Solano County. This vast region covers an area of ​​more than 12,000 km ² and is divided into a multitude of smaller sub-regions. All sub-regions have in common is to take advantage of the cool mists of the Pacific Ocean.

According to U.S. law, each county in the United States the status of a protected designation of origin. If one finds the name North Coast or the name of a county on the label, the wine is usually produced as a mixture of different child growing regions.
