Sonoma Mountain AVA
Sonoma Mountain AVA ( recognized since 23 January 1985) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is located (also known as The Valley of the Moon ) in the immediate vicinity of the city Glen Ellen in the southern part of the administrative area of Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley. The vineyards occupy the western part of the parent Sonoma Valley AVA and are located near the Sonoma Mountains. By embedding in the coastal mountains, a great abundance of microclimates that allow a wide range of grape varieties arise. Important varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Zinfandel.
