Sonoma Mountain AVA

Sonoma Mountain AVA ( recognized since 23 January 1985) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is located (also known as The Valley of the Moon ) in the immediate vicinity of the city Glen Ellen in the southern part of the administrative area of ​​Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley. The vineyards occupy the western part of the parent Sonoma Valley AVA and are located near the Sonoma Mountains. By embedding in the coastal mountains, a great abundance of microclimates that allow a wide range of grape varieties arise. Important varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Zinfandel.
