Redwood Valley AVA
Redwood Valley AVA ( recognized since 23 December 1996) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is located in the administrative area of Mendocino County near the town of Ukiah. To the east, the vineyards of Potter Valley AVA joins. The first vineyards of the wine region with a protected designation of origin ( = American Viticultural Area ) were created in the 19th century by immigrants of Italian descent. As the valley about 60 m higher than nearby vineyards can also early maturing varieties such as the Pinot Noir thrive here.
