McDowell Valley AVA

McDowell Valley AVA ( recognized since 27 February 1981) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is located in the administrative area of ​​Mendocino County. The wine-growing area with a protected designation of origin is located on the hillside above the Russian River at an altitude of about 350 m. Compared to the surrounding air is cooler, allowing a commercial viticulture. Currently there is only one winery within the wine growing area, the McDowell Valley Winery. The remaining grapes are processed by equipment located outside the region of origin.
