Diapering

In heraldry is meant by Damaszierung (field screening ) an imaging agent, decorating and refreshing coat of arms with infill patterns and ornaments in the style of arabesques or structured hatching. The presentation is adapted to the time period. In the Middle Ages it was simple regular figures, such as crossed lines (crosses), points, rosettes, and meanders. During the Renaissance Damaszierung was very popular, so this became lively and ornate structures which were placed symmetrically in the arms field. Most of them were stylized after-sensations of plant tendrils, like the diamonds or the wine plant.
