The small flowers appear singly in the axils and are stalked. The sepals are nearly equal in size, are free and are usually spatulate. The crown is broadly bell-shaped, deep fünfgelappt, the flaps are folded inward. The stamens are shorter than the crown, the stamens are awl or filiform, the anthers are small. The ovary is two-leaved, the two carpels are free from each other, each having two chambers, each with two ovules. The two pen stand between the carpels, they are filiform, the scars are capitate.

There shall be two separate capsules, which are membranous and usually contain only one seed. The capsules do not jump on or are irregular zweiklappig. The seeds are almost spherical and smooth. The cotyledons are oblong - linear and two folded.
