Diego Martínez

Diego Martínez Alfonso Balderas (* February 15, 1981 in Mexico City) is a Mexican football player on the position of the defender.

Life

Association

Martínez started his professional career in the 1998/99 season at second division CF Cuautitlán and changed for the following season to the Lobos de la BPRD and then to the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, both played in the same league.

He wrote at the end of 2000 at Club Necaxa, in which he brought it to the end of 2005 to 135 Erstligaeinsätze. In early 2006, he moved to Mexico 's most popular club Chivas Guadalajara, with which he won in 2006, the Mexican Clausura championship. Although he still stands in Guadalajara under contract, he is since 2008 working on loan at various other clubs and could not get at Chivas used.

National

His debut in the dress of the Mexican national team gave Martínez on 4 February 2003, when it was lost to Argentina 0-1. His last international match on 28 January 2009 against Sweden was lost by the same score.

One of each of its three international goals he scored on 10 March 2004 against Ecuador (2-1), on 31 March 2004 against Costa Rica ( 2-0) and on 26 October 2005 against Uruguay ( 3-1 ).

Martínez worked among others in the national team of his home country with the Olympic football tournament in 2004.
