Dietmar Post
Dietmar Post ( born December 26, 1962 in Espelkamp ) is a film director and label owner.
Life
Dietmar Post completed after high school apprenticeship as a printer. He studied Theatre, Film and Television Studies and Spanish Philology in Berlin (Free University ) and Madrid ( Complutense ). After the Master's degree, he lived and worked between 1995 and 2003 in New York. There he created at New York University, his first short film Bowl of Oatmeal. The second short film Cloven Hoofed had its premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival. This was followed by an assistant for Thomas Schadt (Wall Street ), Reiner Holzemer (Walker Evans ) and Lutz Dammbeck (The Net). With his partner Lucía Palacios he founded in 1997, both in New York and in NRW, the production company Play Loud! Productions, which also acts as a DVD and record label since 2006.
Critics call Post and Palacios the German counterpart to the Direct Cinema directors DA Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus.
2008 Dietmar Post and Lucía Palacios were awarded the prestigious Adolf Grimme Prize.
