Dilgo Khyentse

Dilgo Khyentse Trashi Peljor ( Tib: dil mgo mkhyen brtse bkra shis dpal 'byor; * 1910 in Dege, Kham, † September 28, 1991 in Bhutan) was a master of Vajrayana, scholar, poet, teacher, and in the period from 1987 to 1991 as the successor of Düdjom Rinpoche head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Life

Dilgo Khyentse was ( now in the district Ganzi ) born in 1910 in Denhok Valley in Dege in the Tibetan province of Kham, in a family, descended from Thrisong Detsen, the king of Tibet from the 9th century. At the age of seven, he was publicly recognized in Shechen monastery from Shechen Gyeltshab Rinpoche as Trülku of Khyentse Wangpo ( 1820-1892 ). During the following years he received a full training in the Dharma in general and particularly in the Tantras of the Nyingma School, by different teachers. In addition, he has been extensively trained in meditation.

Dilgo Khyentse was the root teacher Shechen Gyeltshab Rinpoche and Khyentse Chokyi Lodro ( 1893-1959 ). After the completion of the Ngöndro, fundamental tantric exercises, he spent the next 13 years in retreat ( withdrawal) in remote hermitages and caves near his birthplace.

After he finished his retreat at the age of 28, he spent many years in the presence of Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro. After he had received from him the empowerments of the Rinchen Terdzö (the " collection of treasures Revealed " ), Dilgo Khyentse asked for the rest of his life in solitary retreat to spending. His Lama Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro replied, however, that the time had come for him to transfer the countless precious teachings to others.

The teachings of Palpung Monastery Khyentse received by the eleventh Tai Situ Pema Wangchuk Gyelpo. The complete instruction in the " Guhyagarbha Tantra ", as well as in the related comments by Khenpo Tubja. Overall, he studied with more than 50 great lamas teachings and practices of different lineages of Tibetan Buddhism.

When developed his own teaching, he became known in Tibet for its ability to present the teachings of each Buddhist lineage according to the particular teaching style. Later, the 14th Dalai Lama he regarded as his most important teacher of the Nyingma and Dzogchen in particular.

After 1959, Dilgo Khyentse fled to Bhutan. He became the teacher of the royal family of Bhutan and one of the most important Buddhist teacher in Bhutan at all.

Later he gave regular teachings to the 14th Dalai Lama in exile in India and began to teach everywhere in the Himalayas, India, Southwest Asia and the West. The Dalai Lama regards Dilgo Khyentse as his root teacher.

The June 30, 1993 ( anniversary of Padmasambhava ) was born Yangsi Rinpoche was recognized by the Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and gave him read aloud and presented by Trulshig Rinpoche, at 28-29. December 1995 the name " Ugyen Tenzin Jigme Lhundrub ".
