Dimitrios Verginis

Dimitrios Verginis (Greek Δημήτριος Βεργίνης, born May 15, 1987 in Thessaloniki, Greece) is a Greek professional basketball player. The point guard is currently in the squad of CB Bilbao Berri.

Career

Dimitrios Verginis began his career in the youth team of pano Astoria in Thessaloniki, where he played until 2004. After a season in Anatolia, moved Verginis 2005 Greek first division club PAOK Thessaloniki. At the beginning of the season 2007/2008 was Verginis, at the age of 20 years, the youngest captain in the history of the traditional club after previously Konstantinos Vassiliadis was changed to Olympiakos Piraeus. In the same year Verginis participated with PAOK on the Euro Challenge Cup and was nominated for the All-Star Game. In summer 2008, he joined the Greek giants Panathinaikos, where he won the first professional title of his career in 2009 with the Greek club trophy.

Verginis went through all the junior national teams of Greece and took part with them at four European Championships.
