2008–09 Euroleague

The ULEB Euro League is an international basketball competition in which participate the leading European club teams. At the 2008/2009 season was attended by 24 teams. The season started on 20 October 2008 with the opening match between TAU Vitoria and Fenerbahçe Ülkerspor. The final was played on 3 May 2009 in Berlin. The title secured Panathinaikos Athens.

Group stage - Regular Season

Had in this first phase, the 24 teams were divided into four groups (A to D) in both home and away games against each other until one each team 10 matches played. For the next round, the four best qualified from each group.

Group stage - Top 16

In the second phase of the Euro League, the remaining 16 teams in four groups (E to H ) were divided into four teams. Here, the truncation of the regular season in the seedings for the draw reflects. Also in this phase were the teams of each group, in home and away matches against each other. The top two teams in each group qualified for the next round here.

Play-Offs

In one mode, " Best-of -Five", the remaining eight teams will compete in four team matches against each other. The group winners from the second phase of enjoying at a possibly needed fifth playoff home advantage. The four teams that decide these duels in itself, qualify for the Final Four tournament.

Final Four tournament

In a tournament which will be held between the 1st and 3rd May 2008, will occur, two teams in the semi-finals against each other. The winners qualify for the finals which shows the winner of the ULEB Euro League.

Semifinal

The semi-finals were completed on 1 May 2009 in O2 World in Berlin.

3rd Place Match

The 3rd place match took place on May 3.

Final

The ULEB Euro League Final took place on 3 May 2009 at the O2 World in Berlin.
