Tiago Splitter

Tiago Splitter Beims (born 1 January 1985 in Blumenau ) is a Brazilian professional basketball player. Since 2010, the 2.11 meter tall power forward plays in U.S. professional league NBA for the San Antonio Spurs.

The Brazilian international is a descendant of German immigrants and has in addition to the Brazilian and Spanish citizenship.

Playing career

Tiago Splitter started his career with the youth team of Ipiranga Badesc in Brazil. In 2000 he moved to Spain, where he received a contract with Tau Ceramica. However, the team of Vitoria gave the young Brazilian for the 2000/01 season at Araba Gorago Alava in the EBA League. Also for the 2001/ 02 season, he was awarded; CB Bilbao Berri at this time in the LEB -2. With this team he played 2002/ 03 in the LEB -1.

2003/ 04 played splinter in his first season for Tau Ceramica in the ACB league.

In the 2007 NBA Draft Tiago Splitter of the San Antonio Spurs was drafted in the first round to 28th. However Splitter initially remained some years in Spain, before joining the 2010/11 season in the NBA with the Spurs. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season he was active during the duration of the lockout for the Spanish side Valencia Basket Club.


  • Tiago Splitter with the Brazilian national team won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 2003. Additionally, he won with Brazil twice each the America Cup (2005 and 2009) and the South American Championship (2003 and 2005). He also played in the World Basketball Championships 2002, 2006 and 2010 and the 2012 Olympics for his native country.
  • In the Americas Championships 2003 Splitter was selected in the All- Tournament Team First.
  • He won twice with Tau Ceramica of the Spanish Copa del Rey (2004 and 2006). In addition, he could with the team twice the Spanish SuperCup win (2005 and 2006).
  • Splitter was elected to the All- Tournament First Team of the Euro League season 2007/ 08 as well as to the All- Tournament Second Team of Euro League seasons 2008/ 09 and 2009/10.
  • After the main round of the 2009/10 season in the ACB League, he received the award for MVP of the league.
