Reception

On the website Metacritic.com album a score of 74 was based on 19 professional reviews.

John Bush of Allmusic.com awarded the maximum score. He wrote that the band develop a sound that is inferior to " vergangegen electropop technicians from Giorgio Moroder about Todd Rundgren to Steve Miller " into nothingness.

Stefan Friedrich, who peer reviewed the album for Laut.de, Discovery does not stop for a second Homework. What Daft Punk on the album sometimes lacked was the necessary pressure behind the songs and a slightly clearer direction where the expedition should go.

Ryan Schreiber -reviewed Discovery for the e -zine Pitchfork. Progressive rock and disco had never actually asked to open a hybrid, but the album is a living "Franken Baby" this new-born genre, whether it likes it or not.

Commercial success

The album reached # 5 in Germany, # 6 in Austria and Switzerland, # 2 in the UK and also number 2 in France.
