Homework (Daft-Punk-Album)

Homework is the debut album by the French house band Daft Punk. It was released on 17 January 1997.

Formation and style

The album included, inter alia, almost all previously released on Soma Maxis. Especially the singles Around the World, Revolution 909 and Da Funk were international successes. Homework is characterized by an irreverent handling of the House genre, punk influences, distorted samples and other experiments. The album is regarded as the main influence for the House music of the years 1997-2001 and as the origin of the filter -house genre.

With the pictorial staging of the music directors Michel Gondry for Around the World, Spike Jonze were committed for Da Funk and Roman Coppola for revolution 909. The video clip for Fresh produced Thomas and Guy -Man then on their own.

Among the artists who produced for Daft Punk remixes, to illustrious names such as Masters at Work, see ( Around the World ), Ian Pooley ( Burnin ) and Armand van Helden ( Da Funk ).

The project has been enriched with a DVD / VHS, 1999, the name DAFT - A Story about Dogs, Androids, Firemen and Tomatoes wore and consisted of a collection of previously released video clips with additional material as well as a live recording.

Reception

Homework was 2.5 million copies sold (as of 2006), the first two million in just a few months. It was sold in 35 countries around the world and had to be repeated several times then post due to high demand soon. There were also pressed 50,000 vinyl albums at the request of the group, one of the best placements was achieved in France for third place, in the UK the album was ranked eighth in Germany number 48 in the U.S. space 150 on the Billboard 200
