On the Dittersdorfer height
The Dittersdorfer height is a 553.5 meter-high hill in the Saxon Erzgebirge northeast of the hamlet of the same name Dittersdorf the Municipal Office mountain. On the ridge there is a built in 1869 station of the Royal Saxon triangulation.
Geology
The bedrock consists primarily of phyllitic rocks which must be pursued to the area of Thum and Zwoenitz. On the northern slope slate quartzite lenses are encased, which were mined in the past for gravel extraction.
View
The Dittersdorfer height is one of the distinctive vantage points of the lower Ore Mountains and offers the best views of the lower Erzgebirge nearby Chemnitz. To the south the view extends in good visibility among other things on Haßberg, Pöhlberg, Baerenstein, Wedge Mountain, Fichtelbergbahn and disc mountain. East can the Augustus Castle, north of Adelberg and see the Treppenhauer in Saxony castle in the distance. In addition, can be in a northwesterly direction with good visibility - even without visual aids - the silhouette of almost 65km distant power plant Lippendorf recognize. To the west, the view in the Chemnitz Basin ranges.
Touristic development
In 1900, a tourist restaurant was south-west, below the plateau built, which is now home after several modifications and extensions is a hotel with restaurant.
