Dmitri Sautin
Dmitri Ivanovich Sautin (Russian: Дмитрий Иванович Саутин, born March 15, 1974 in Voronezh ) is a Russian diver. He took part in five Olympics and won eight Olympic medals, more than any other diver.
Life
With seven years Sautin began with the springboard. In 1991 he was seriously injured in a stabbing at a bus stop. After he had spent two months in hospital, he was able to start training again for the 1992 Olympics in time. In Barcelona he won the bronze medal from the board for the CIS. As of 1993 Sautin went to Russia. At the European Championships in Sheffield, he won his first major title until 2008, he reached twelve European Championship titles. At the World Championships in Rome in 1994 Sautin was first world champion in the water jump, he won a total of five titles. In 1996, he then won his first Olympic gold medal from the tower. With the introduction of the synchronous hopping in 2000 doubled the starting opportunities at the European Championship 2000 in Helsinki Sautin won three titles and a silver medal. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Sautin won four medals, including gold in the synchronized diving from the tower, along with Igor Loukachine.
