Dmitry Petrovich Maksutov

Dmitri Petrovich Maksutow ( Дмитрий Петрович Максутов, born May 10, 1832 in Perm, † 1889) was an officer in the Imperial Russian Navy and the last governor of the Russian - American Company (RAK ).

Life

Maksutow 1840 Member naval cadet corps, which he completed in 1847 with the rank of naval cadet ( гардемарин ). In 1851 Maksutow was promoted to lieutenant and the 46th Division, in the Far East of Russia, assigned. With the outbreak of the Crimean War he was transferred in June 1854 to Petropavlovsk.

His two brothers Pawel Maksutow and Alexander also participated in this war. Pawel was a member of the Black Sea Fleet, aboard the battleship Paris during the Battle of Sinope. Alexander and Dimitri fought in the Siege of Petropavlovsk. Dmitri Maksutow commanded the legendary Cannon Battery # 2, his brother Alexander commanded No. 3 After the battle, were both awarded the Order of St. George of the Fourth degree.
