Doctor Yellow

Doctor Yellow (Japaneseドクター イエロー, Dokutā Iero ) is the nickname for inspection trains that monitor the state of the paths of the Japanese Shinkansen high-speed trains. The trains are equipped with special instruments, for example, to inspect the condition of the infrastructure or the overhead line.

The nickname of the trains was due to their function for testing and diagnosis ( Doctor) and the yellow paint ( Yellow).

The vehicles are similar in appearance almost completely the production vehicles. All inspections are performed ( on the Tōkaidō - line example 270 km / h ) at the maximum authorized speed.
