Dogankent ( until 1964 Harşit ) is a city and, since 1990, a district in the Turkish province of Giresun.

Located in the Black Sea region and the county town has 3476 inhabitants 7050 (2008).

Geography

The 30 km from the Black Sea coast, this city is located on the Harşit Çayı, 46 km southeast of the provincial capital of Giresun and 60 km north- west of Gümüşhane.

For the district, which includes the northwest by the district Tirebolu, adjacent to the county Görele and on the south by the county Kürtün in the Northeast, in addition to the Mahalles Dogankent ( Merkez ) Sadaklı and Süttaşı, the villages ( Turkish Köy ) Çatak, Çatalağaç, Doymus, Güvenlik, Güdül, Kozköy, Söğütağzı, Oyraca and Yeniköy.
