Region

Doguérawa (also: Doguéraoua ) is a rural municipality in the Department Malbaza in Niger.

Geography

Doguérawa is located at the junction of Great Landscape Sudan Sahel and shares land borders with the neighboring state of Nigeria. The neighboring communities in Niger are Malbaza in the West, Badaguichiri in the north, Tama in the northeast, Galma Koudawatché the east and Sabon Guida in the southeast. The municipality is divided into 32 administrative villages, six traditional villages, 77 hamlets and eight bearings. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Doguérawa.

History

The French colonial administration set up in the early 20th century, a canton in Doguérawa one whose first canton chief Ibrahim el Dassouki was the former and deposed in favor of his son Sultan of Agadez. 1964 Canton Doguérawa was the newly created district ( and later department) Birni - N'Konni slammed and additionally received the status of an administrative post ( poste administratif ) within the territory of the arrondissement. The administrative posts was moved in 1973 after Malbaza - Usine, the industrial suburb of the neighboring community Malbaza. The rural community Doguérewa went out in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Doguérawa, from whose Malbaza was separated as an independent rural community in the course. Since 2011 part of the rural community to the Department no longer Birni - N'Konni, but for newly created Department Malbaza.

Population

At the 2001 census Doguérawa had 83 794 inhabitants. For the year 2010 111.549 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in that narrow zone along the border with Nigeria, ranging from Tounouga in the west to the east Malawa and operated in irrigated crop production for cash crops. In the administrative village Galmi there is a significant market for onions that are sold to Niamey, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and the Ivory Coast. The first time in 1975 bred Violet de Galmi is considered one of the most famous varieties of onions in West Africa. Doguérawa is located on the National Road 1, which here is part of the international highway Dakar - N'Djamena -highway.
