Doha 2006 (yacht)

The Doha 2006 (ex Club Med, ex Maiden II, ex - Qatar 2006) is a maxi catamaran, which has been specifically designed and built for ocean racing.

The yacht was built by the French shipyard Multi Plast in France specifically for the race The Race and stabbed in May 2000 under the name Club Med on her maiden voyage to sea. The aim of the draft were to take part in regattas and putting up peak performance. Sister boat the orange (see Bruno Peyron ).

The catamaran was renamed several times in the past:

  • Club Med (2000 - 2001), skippered by Grant Dalton ( fr) ( Regatta "The Race"; record on the Route de la Découverte )
  • Maiden II (2002 - 2004), skippered by Tracy Edwards ( s) and Brian Thompson ( fr)
  • Qatar to advertise in 2006, renaming the boat in order for the Asian Games 2006 in Qatar (English Qatar )
  • Doha 2006 ( since 2005), with Brian Thompson ( Regatta " Oryx Quest " )
