Dombås

Dombås is a small town with about 1,185 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2012) in the Norwegian Oppland. 659 moh. dominant, it is a major transportation hub. South leads the way on the E6 through the fertile Gudbrandsdalen towards Oslo, the E6 north rises above the Dovre to Trondheim, and in a westerly direction bifurcates from the E136 to follow the course of the Gudbrandsdal along the river Lågen, and then into the Romsdal to Åndalsnes dismount.

During the campaign in Norway in 1940 landed the first paratroopers between Dombås and Dovre. They were beaten in a first success by the regiment of Møre og Garden. This defeat was the first German setback on Norwegian territory.

Dombås is the starting point of the Rauma Railway, which ends in Åndalsnes. Here is a change to the Dovrebahn is possible. Dombås is connected with two lines (Bergen - Trondheim and Oslo - Trondheim ) to the Norwegian long-distance bus network

In addition to several hotels and souvenir shops, a small church forms the center of the resort, which was built in 1939 with slate from the Dovregebiet.
