Domenico Siniscalco

Domenico Siniscalco ( born July 15, 1954 in Turin ) is an Italian economist. He was Italian Minister of Economy and Finance of 16 July 2004 to 22 September 2005, the second and third term of office of each led by Silvio Berlusconi Cabinet. Today, he is vice chairman of investment bank Morgan Stanley Europe, and there is also the Head of the Department Italy.

Life

Siniscalco first visited the State Liceo Classico Alfieri in Turin. At the University of Turin he studied law, then he obtained at the University of Cambridge doctoral degree (Ph.D. ) in Economics.

From 1990 to 2006 he was a full professor of Economic Policy at the University of Turin. Siniscalco has authored over thirty scientific publications on topics such as privatization, environmental economics and industrial economics in national and international journals, was also a columnist for the business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.

Nominated as Director General of the Treasury in the first Berlusconi government, he was from July 16, 2004 Minister of Economy and Finance in the government of Berlusconi II as successor to the retiring Minister Giulio Tremonti.
