Domenico Starnone

Domenico Starnone (* 1943 in Saviano ) is an Italian writer, screenwriter and journalist.

Life

Starnone prescribes, inter alia for the arts pages of newspapers L' Unità, Il Manifesto and for satirical magazines such as Cuore and tango. The topics are generally shaped by his occupation as a teacher. His special interest is in Italian and history didactics.

As a screenwriter, he was primarily involved in the following films: La scuola (English: The School, 1995) by Daniele Luchetti, Auguri, professore (congratulations, Mr. Teacher in 1997! ) By Riccardo Milani and Denti ( Teeth; 2000) by Gabriele Salvatores.

His most acclaimed book is Via Gemito that won the 2001 Premio Strega.
