Dominique di Piazza

Dominique di Piazza (* 1959 in Lyon ) is a French jazz bassist and Pastor.

Di Piazza taught himself to play guitar and in 1978 moved under the influence of Jaco Pastorius ' playing on the album Heavy Weather by Weather Report for bass guitar. He has also studied theology and then worked in a southern French church as pastor.

He has appeared as a sideman of many musicians such as Eric Barret, Jean -Pierre Como, Michel Perez, Louis Winsberg, Aldo Romano, Nicolas Folmer, Laurent Cugny and his Big Band Lumiere, Didier Lockwood, Gil Evans, Joe di Orio, Michel Petrucciani, Katia and Marielle, Bobby Thomas Jr., Donald Harrison, Danny Gottlieb, Gary Husband, Antonio Farao, Jeff Gardner, Giuseppe Continenza, Alex Acuña, Adam Nitti, Norman Stockton, Gordon Beck, Victor Wooten, Lincoln Goines, Michael Manring and Yves Carbone on. In John McLaughlin Trio (next to Sublime ) from 1992 to 1993 he undertook a world tour. The trio were over 300 concerts and recorded the album Que Alegria. In 2000 he undertook with the group FrontPage ( Bireli Lagrene and with Dennis Chambers ) a European tour and recorded an album that the Victory Music Award in 2001 as Best Jazz Album of the Year.

2005 and 2006 undertook di Piazza with Meddy Gerville, Jean -Marie Ecay and Horacio Hernandez a tour of Reunion, Mauritius, Madagascar and several African countries and took on the CD Jazz Amwin. In 2006 he played in India CD recordings with U. Shrivinas (mandolin ), Debashish Bhattacharya (guitar), Selvagenash ( Kanjira ) and Zakir Hussain ( tabla) a. Another album was recorded with the Italian pianist Antonio Faraò and André Ceccarelli.
