Don Carmody

Don Carmody (* April 16, 1951 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is an American- Canadian film producer.

Life and achievements

Carmody was born in April 1951 in Providence, Rhode Iceland. His parents moved to the Canadian city of Montreal when he was still a toddler. He holds the American and Canadian citizenship and speaks English and French. Between 1968 and 1972, he attended Loyola University, now Concordia University. From 1974 to 1976, he was educated at McGill University for a Bachelor of Laws. He was in Montreal from 1973 to 1975 Vice President of Cinepix Inc., now Lions Gate Films. In 1980 he founded his worldwide film production company Don Carmody Productions Inc. He has also worked as production manager, actor, writer and director living in Toronto and Los Angeles.

1996 Carmody was nominated for The Late Shift at the Emmy. In the same year he won the Golden Reel Award at the Genie Award for Networked - Johnny Mnemonic. In 2005 he received this award for Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

Since the early 1970s he produced in over 35 years in the profession far more than 90 films. He was co-produced the six -time Academy Award -winning musical film drama Chicago ( 2002) by director Rob Marshall starring Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta -Jones and Richard Gere in the lead roles.
