Don King (musician)

Donald "Don" Alan King ( born May 1, 1954 in Fremont, Nebraska) is an American country musician.

Life

In high school, got Don King trumpet, later moving to the classical guitar. At 14, he learned guitar. He had his first live performances in bars and clubs of Omaha. In 1974, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he performed in small talent shows.

He had two years as a singer at the Quality Inn Hotel His first job. Here he met people from the music business. These connections helped him get a contract with Con Brio Records, and in 1976 he made his first chart success with Cabin High ( In the Blue Ridge Mountains ). In 1977, he scored his first Top 20 hit with I've Got You to Come Home To ( No. 16 Country Top 100), followed shortly thereafter by two other hits on the mean burst on the country charts and his first album, Dreams and Things. Published in 1978 Don King his second album, Feelings So Right, and landed four more Top 30 hits, including Music Is My Woman.

1979 rose Lonely hotel into the top 40. Over the next year, followed by two more hits and King went on tour with Alabama, Reba McEntire, John Anderson, The Oak Ridge Boys, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette. A top 40 hit with Johnny Cash's song I Still Miss Someone followed in 1981 and a second with The Closer You Get while he completed his album Whirlwind. The big break into the top ten or a number 1 hit was denied him.

King wrote, among other Reba McEntires hit single Why Do We Want What We Know We Can not Have along with Dave Woodward, with whom he often writes songs. He also was co-author for Janie Fricke You Do not Know Love with Beckie Foster. The country band which is known under the name of Sawyer Brown, was founded in the early 1980s as a touring band by Don King. His last hit on the U.S. country charts had King 1988 Can not Stop The Music.

End of 1981, Don King with his father Don King Music Group. In 1985 he was a 24-track recording studio to record demos mainly. 1992, a video production was affiliated. Meanwhile, Don King Member of 2nd Nature, a bluegrass trio. Don King took four albums with major labels and placed about fifteen hit singles on the Billboard country music charts.
