Donatus Djagom

Donatus Djagom SVD ( born May 10, 1919 in Bilas, Manggarai, † 29 November, 2011 end ) was an Indonesian religious clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of the end of Flores in Indonesia.

Life

Donatus Djagom joined the Congregation of the Divine Word Missionaries, and studied philosophy at the Seminary of St. Paul Ledalero at the University of Agder. After the Second World War, he continued his theological studies at the Divine Word seminary in the Dutch Tete rings, where he also received the ordination to the priesthood on August 28, 1949. Donatus then continued his studies at the SVD - run University of San Carlos in Cebu, Philippines, continued. He was principal of the high school SMAK Syuradikara end - Flores and Vice Provincial of his Order.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 19 December 1968 Archbishop of the Archdiocese end. The Apostolic Pro- Nuncio to Indonesia, Archbishop Salvatore Pappalardo, donated to him on 11 June 1969, the episcopal ordination; Were co-consecrators Willem van Bekkum SVD, Bishop of Ruteng, and Antoine Hubert Thijssen, SVD, Bishop of Larantuka. His motto was Praedicamus Christ Crucifixum ( "We preach Christ crucified " ) ( 1 Corinthians 1.23). He was the first native-speaker Archbishop of Flores.

On 23 February 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related. He lived since 1996 in his hometown Bilas at Ranggu, Manggarai, and from 2010 in the convent of the Sisters of the Congregation of the followers of Jesus (CIJ ). Donatus Djagom was buried in the Cathedral of the end.
