Donduk Kuular

Donduk Kuular (* 1888, † 1932) was a Tuvan politician, head of state and first Prime Minister of the Tuvan People's Republic.

Seizure of power

Donduk Kuular was Lamaist monk. He joined a group of " National Bolsheviks ", which with Soviet Russian Support proclaimed the independence of Tuva in 1921. The land was to the Soviet Union, the third socialist state in the world.

Policy

Donduk Kuular was then a leading member of the Tuvan People's Revolutionary Party ( TPRP ). In 1924 he was elected Chairman of the Small Churals ( tuwinisches Parliament) and was head of state. He sought mainly to compensate with the Mongolian People's Republic, the Tuva recognized under international law. Territorial disputes between the two states were solved by Donduk Kuulars mediation, but also generally sought Donduk Kuular a closer connection to Mongolia.

Donduk Kuular always pursued a policy more independent of Moscow, which Stalin angry in the subsequent period. Donduk Kuular Tuva wanted to convert to a Lamaist theocracy. He spoke out against the influx of Russian settlers and against a pro-Russian propaganda in the country. In 1926, he led the Buddhism as the state religion. In November 1926, Donduk Kuular allowed to choose the prime minister and rename the country in Tuvan People's Republic.

Coup

1929 directed the Soviet Union a communist coup in Tuva. Donduk Kuular was deposed as prime minister, was arrested and later by Salchak Toka (1901-1973), a puppet of Stalin replaced. This was on March 6, 1932, Secretary General of the People's Revolutionary Party of Tuva. At the behest of Stalin Donduk Kuular in 1932 was executed.
