Salchak Toka

Saltschak Kalbakchorekowitsch Toka (Russian Салчак Калбакхорекович Тока; * 2 Dezemberjul / December 15 1901greg in Mergen, .. † May 11, 1973 in Kyzyl ) was a Tuvan politicians. He was from 1932 to 1944 head of government of the Tuvan People's Republic.

Rise

Saltschak Toka was a member of the Communist University for Workers of the East (Russian Коммунистический университет трудящихся Востока ) in Moscow and Kyzyl. With Soviet support, he staged a coup in January 1929 against the government of Prime Minister Donduk Kuular and took over the power in the Tuvan People's Republic. He was also chairman of the Central Committee of the People's Revolutionary Party of Tuva and on March 6, 1932 the Secretary General.

Stalinism

Saltschak Toka established close contacts with Stalin. After the execution Donduk Kuulars 1932 Saltschak Toka absolute ruler of Tuva. He introduced a rigorous communism on the Soviet model. Under his leadership in agriculture, which was previously worn by nomads, collectivized and suppresses the traditional religions ( shamanism and Lamaism / Buddhism). He introduced a bizarre personality cult around him. For his literary works him numerous Soviet prizes were awarded.

After the incorporation of the Tuvan People's Republic in the Soviet Union Toka remained until his death in 1973, General Secretary of the Tuvan department of the CPSU.

Family

His wife Chertek Amyrbitowna Antschimaa - Toka was from 1940 to 1944 head of state of their country, the first female head of state of a republic.
