History
Esbach was first mentioned in 1149 as a wholesale aspen in records of Doerfles was first documented in 1317 the speech. The communities were until 1918 the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and came as part of the Free State Coburg in the year 1920 it after a referendum in 1919 to Bavaria. On January 1, 1971, Doerfles merged to form a unified community in Coburg and Esbach.

The breakpoint Doerfles -Esbach lies on the railway Coburg- Sonneberg. Furthermore, the high-speed line Nuremberg -Erfurt passes near the community. Doerfles -Esbach also has a city bus service to the neighboring Coburg. Nearest motorway junction to the Federal Highway 73 is the junction Rödental.
