To Dornelas include, except Dornelas itself, nor the two villages Colherinhas and Porto de Aguiar. The municipality of occupied by area ( 23.7 km ² ), and the number of its 692 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011) respectively in third place in their circle County ( Municipio ). Dornelas is located in the south-west and is bordered to the north by Cortiçada, to the east and to the south by Penaverde Forninhos. In the southwest of the town adjacent to the county district Penalva do Castelo and to the northwest by the county district Sátão.

Economically, the Community Dornelas is influenced mainly by agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, food production, wood production, and in health care.
