Dorothy Sebastian

Dorothy Sebastian ( born April 26, 1903 in Birmingham, Alabama, † April 8, 1957 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actress who came to fame in the last days of silent film.

Life

After several appearances as a dancer and chorus girl in George White's Scandals of the Revue Dorothy Sebastian in 1925 went with a seven year contract with MGM to Hollywood. After a few minor roles, she was in the period of transition from silent films to talkies a popular supporting actress. During the filming of a shameless woman she graduated in 1928 friendship with Greta Garbo. In the same year she appeared in Our Dancing Daughters alongside Joan Crawford. In the following years it developed into a small series of films presented Joan Crawford, Dorothy Sebastian and Anita Page in the lead roles. Sebastian played one of her last roles in the Mexican film Contrabando. After 1931, finished her increasingly uncontrolled alcoholism her career, and Dorothy Sebastian only played in a series of B- movies in which she often could not get as extras roles.

Today Dorothy Sebastian is known for her affair with Buster Keaton, during which both were notorious for their binge drinking. At that time she also got her nickname slam -bang Bastian and Slam, as she used to be intemperate and abusive in drunken state.
