The Bahnhof Dortmund- Dorstfeld is next to the main station in Dortmund, the second S -Bahn node in Dortmund. He has four high tracks, which are accessible via two central platforms and two deep tracks that are accessible via side platforms. This construction is called tower station. The operating points symbol is EDDP ( former Bundesbahndirektion food, Bahnhof Dortmund- Dorstfeld, passenger station ), the international station number is 8,000,081th The station corresponds to category 3

Vehicular importance

The station is served by the three lines of the S- Bahn Rhein -Ruhr, the S1 from Dortmund to Solingen, the S2 from Dortmund to Herne ( continue to Recklinghausen, food, or Duisburg ) and the S4 from Bahnhof Dortmund- Luetgendortmund to Unna. All three lines are operated by DB Regio NRW GmbH and run from Monday to Friday during the day in twenty -minute intervals, for days remoteness, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays every half hour. The railway station is a railway junction therefore particularly important because the S4 because of the historical route ( it uses the route of the railway line Dortmund Süd -Oberhausen - Sterkrade the Royal Westphalian Railway Company ) does not move the current main railway station. The coming of Unna S4 and coming from the main train station S2 wait therefore just another like the coming of Luetgendortmund S4 and the S2 coming from Herne, a transition is possible in each case at the same platform. The S1 crosses the underground station and is connected by stairs and lifts with the other lines.

In addition to the S-Bahn Train Station is also served by three bus lines of the Dortmunder Stadtwerke. The lines 447, 465 and 466 operate here also from Monday to Friday in twenty -minute intervals, for days remoteness, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays every half hour. For the station the departing bus and S- Bahn lines of the VRR tariff applies, composite border shall be the NRW - tariff.
