Dottie Rambo

Dottie Rambo ( born March 2, 1934 in Madisonville, Kentucky as Joyce Reba Lutrell, † 11 May, 2008 Mount Vernon, Missouri) was an American gospel singer and guitarist. It is one of the most important artists of the Gospel scene.

Biography

Dottie Rambo began writing her first songs at the age of eight years. Her singing talent earned her several appearances in local churches, at various festivals and in local radio. At twelve, she became a born-again Christian. Shortly thereafter, she left her parents' house and worked as a singer their money. As part of the gospel trio, The Gospel Echoes, she traveled through the southwestern United States. In 1950 she met her future husband Buck Rambo, whom she married at the age of 16. Two years later, her daughter Ruby was born.

As a teenager, she was discovered by Jimmie Davis, then governor of Louisiana and contracted. Together with her ​​husband and daughter, she founded in the 1960s, the gospel trio, The Singing Rambos (later: The Rambos ), which was very successful and toured throughout the world. Even in Vietnam joined the trio on during the war for American troops. On the American television network TBN she had her own TV show, The Dottie Rambo Magazine in the 1980s. In 1989, she had to cut consumption because of health problems. A herniated disc led to a paralysis of the left leg. In 1994 she got a divorce from her husband also. 1999 Rambo occurred along with Whitney Houston when she was awarded the Dove Award. Their common song was used for the soundtrack of the film The Preacher's Wife. The soundtrack is one of the best -selling gospel albums of all time.

2000 it was presented by the American musician Association ASCAP an award for lifetime achievement. Even in the 21st century, they remained in the music business and toured constantly on.
