Avarice makes small and ugly is an American animated short film directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera from the year 1947.

Action

Kater Tom steals a bottle of milk, which he wants to drink in peace alone out of his shell. Jerry, however, joins again and again to Tom and although the milk bowl hidden again and again, she finds Jerry always. Tom mixes now from various toxic substances, a liquid that looks like milk, and placed the bowl in front of Jerry's mouse hole. Jerry drinks from the liquid, however, does not fall over dead, but gets a sudden incredible power. Now he is chasing Tom. Whenever his powers wane, Jerry drink again of the liquid until Tom can hide the tray in front of him.

Jerry mixes now hurry again the liquid, but Tom comes before him and even drinking the entire bowl empty. Unlike previously Jerry Tom initially swells to huge, muscle-bound size, but shrink in the next moment on Jerry's size. Follow more contractions until Tom has hardly fly size. Jerry now chasing him with a fly swatter.

Avarice makes small and ugly came on 14 June 1947 as part of the MGM cartoon series Tom and Jerry in the cinemas. The original title of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse plays on Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Awards

Avarice makes small and ugly was nominated for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " nominated in 1948, but could not prevail against So a sweet birdie located.
