Draconian (band)

Draconian is a Swedish Doom-/Gothic-Metal-Band from Saffle.

Band History

In 1994, Johan Ericson Doom: VS, Jesper Stolpe and Andy Hindenäs the Death Metal band Kerberos. Six months later, Anders Jacobsson was true of the formation, which then changed its name to Draconian.

A first demo, Shades of the Moon, was released in February 1996. Another, In Glorious Victory, was recorded in January 1997, but not published because of the dissatisfaction of the band with the sound quality of the material. After several changes in the line-up Draconian went between 1998 and 1999 increased on tour. The release of the album The Closed Eye of Paradise was postponed due to renewed dissatisfaction with the quality of the production. After recordings improved the material appeared finally as another demo in August 1999.

In the following years the band worked mainly on new songs and changed through their style primarily worn and düstererer music. After Dark Oceans We Cry 2002 with a final demo was released, a record deal was reached with Napalm Records. Within the next three years Draconian produced two studio albums. A third album was in favor of an EP postponed due to the great demand of fans with remakes of older pieces and finally released on February 29, 2008.

After several concerts in Russia, Turkey and the Wave Gothic Treffen in Germany, the band worked hard on new material.

For promotional purposes the end of June 2011, a video for the song "The Last Hour Of Acient Sunlight" was produced. This song is featured on the new album titled A Rose For The Apocalypse, which was released on June 24, 2011.

In October 2011, the band performed at the Metal Female Voices Fest in Belgium.

On 15 November 2011, Draconian announced that Lisa Johansson leaving the band with immediate effect due to family reasons. According to their official statement on the Hompepage the band they no longer felt to contribute their full commitment to the band in the situation. The other members of Draconian announced that the band remains consist definitely continue.

On September 19, 2012, the band officially announced on their website announced that the search for a new singer has the obligation of Heike Langhans come to an end.
