Dragony
Dragony is a power metal band from Vienna, Austria, also incorporating elements of symphonic metal into their style.
History
Dragony were founded in the summer of 2007 by guitarist and singer Daniel Stockinger Siegfried Samer. Daniel Stockinger previously worked at the Vienna metal band "Omega Effect", Siegfried Samer as a singer in the coming also from Vienna Power Metal band " Eleftheria ". Originally conceived as a studio project with rock opera character, the band initially called "The Dragonslayer Project". But after Popper with Andreas Nitsch (guitar ), Herbert Glos (Bass ), Georg Lorenz (keyboards) and Frederic Brno (drums) a full band line-up was quickly found, it was decided to perform live as a band. After a few gigs in smaller clubs in Vienna Dragony completed 2008, first concert as the opening act for international bands like Firewind and Paul Di'Anno. It was followed by other concerts in Vienna and co-organized environment as the self of Dragony "Night of Power" with Serenity as well as performances in the opening act of Axxis, Edenbridge and Sonata Arctica.
After the project was now matured into a band, it was decided to abandon the rock opera character in favor of a more traditional album, and began in late 2010 to record their debut album. In the fall of 2012 Dragony celebrated its fifth anniversary with a joint concert with Freedom Call in Vienna. The end of 2012 Hartleb Manuel (keyboards) and Simon Saito (guitar) were presented as new permanent members of Dragony. Currently the band is working on a successor of Legends, whose release is planned for 2014.
