Drahotín

Drahotín ( German Trohatin ) is a municipality in the West Bohemian Okres Domažlice.

Geography

Drahotín is located four kilometers north-west of Poběžovice at the foot of the Upper Palatinate Forest between the 521 meter high Bílovický vrch the north and the 532 -meter high Skalky in the south. Between Hostouň and Drahotín comes serpentine front accompanied by actinolite and greenschist, interspersed with asbestos cords and chromite grains. By Drahotín the Slatinný flowing creek ( German: Schlattiner Bach ), whose headwaters located about two kilometers west is further along the eastern slopes of the Upper Palatinate Forest, and flows approximately 6 km to the northwest at Štítary in the Radbuza.

History

The name Drahotín belongs to the owner and clan names that predominate in the Slavic naming in comparison to the German nature name by far. Drahotín is derived from personal names Drahota and the ending- ín has the meaning of the village ... So that means Drahotín village of Drahota. The German name is Trohatin the Czech Drahotín aligned onomatopoeic with small variations.

Probably formed Drahotín together with Hora Svatého Václava, Načetín and Hvožďany u Poběžovic. Before the 13th century, a good of its own, which then came into the possession of the castle Stary Herštejn and 1539 came to the domination of Lobkowicz Depending on the source of the first written mention of Drahotín with the year 1268 ( after Johann Groebner ) or 1635 is given (after Ernst Richter ). 1587 Drahotín is listed in the land register of the Lobkowicz family with 31 yards.

1656 saw Drahotín 12 farmers, 14 Chalupner, 11 gardeners, 64 teams, 77 cows, 82 young cattle, 103 sheep and 141 pigs.

1789 had Drahotín 51 houses, 1839 60 houses, 481 inhabitants and two inns, 1913 75 houses, 492 inhabitants, 30 farmers, 4 Chalupner, 24 small farmers, 3 Bed, 2 bottles of beer actions, 3 shops, a blacksmith, a municipal poorhouse, 2 Joiner, a wheelwright, a miller, a cooper, two shoemakers, a gamekeeper, a hairdresser and a tobacconist. Main acquisition formed agriculture with horses and cattle. It was mined limestone and serpentine. Since 1906 Drahotín had a school with 110 children who Expositur to Hora Svatého Václava was. Drahotín belonged to the parish Hora Svatého Václava.

In 2013 there were in Drahotín 199 inhabitants, an inn, a shop, a cultural center, a playground, a volleyball court, a public library, a health center with horse-riding, cycling and walking and a sports club.
