Drietoma

Drietoma (Hungarian Drétoma - to 1902 Drietoma ) is a municipality in western Slovakia. It is located 6 km west of Trenčín on the border with the Czech Republic in the White Carpathians. The village with about 2050 inhabitants and extends in the valley of the river Drietomica and forms a gateway from Moravia to Slovakia.

The current flowing through the municipality of Bach Drietomica 1244 was mentioned for the first time in 1321 then also the site directly as Drethma. The sources of the late Middle Ages, the village is divided into an upper and a sub-location, the sub-location is now part of Kostolná - Záriečie ( Kostolná is 1773 mentioned as Kostolna Drietoma ), while the Oberort has become today Drietoma.

In 1800, the present-day districts Hrádok, Kraľovany, Biskupské and Rozen were incorporated.
