Dudo-Henry, Count of Laurenburg

Dudo - Henry of Lauren Castle (* 1060, † around 1123) was from 1093 Count of Lauren Castle and regarded as the true founder of the House of Nassau.

Count Dudo was the son of Rupert of Lauren Castle, the archbishop's steward in the winning country. Presumably they are the descendants of the Lords of Lipporn that are mentioned in a document of the monastery of Prüm as the owner of parts of the Lipporn Lauren Burger heritage already 881. To get the 950 men of Lipporn of Duke Herrmann of Swabia the Esterau, 991 a Drutwin is named as Earl of Königssondergau east of Wiesbaden. Probably with his father built the castle Dudo Lauren castle. This was already in 1093, as can be seen from a foundation charter of the abbey Laach. Here Dudo Dudo is referred to as Comes de Lurenburch fifth of the witness list. From the diocese of Worms, he took the area around Nassau fief, where he and his sons later built the ancestral castle of the House of Nassau. Dudo was named in 1117 as bailiff in the winning country. Of the archbishops of Mainz, he took to the 1122 rule Idstein fief.
