In Baerl station, the track forked level free, a branch line ran west to the Rhine Prussia station on the Lower Rhine line (direction North ). The actual distance in turn led centrally between the densely populated areas of Homberg and Moers through. They met in the amount of the branching point Asberg on the Lower Rhine line (direction south) and followed this up to the branching point oestrum.

After the railway line Ruhrort -Mönchengladbach cross was it about the Bergheim Station east of Toeppersees for freight and shunting yard Hohenbudberg. In this form, the route was opened on October 1, 1912 for freight.

A year later, an additional connection from the branch office Buschmannshof over the station Meiderich South was taken to the freight station Oberhausen West into operation on 1 September 1913.
