Dunajovice

Dunajovice ( German Dunajitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 17 km north-east of the center of České Budějovice and belongs to Okres Jindřichův Hradec.

Geography

Dunajovice is located in the Trebon Basin in the area of the existing since 1977 UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Třeboňsko. To the north runs the Golden channel; behind it is the Velky Tisy and other fish ponds. In the south, the hill rises Dunajovická hora (504 m), which is the highest point of the Trebon Basin.

Neighboring towns are Lomnice nad Lužnicí in the north, Lužnice in the northeast, Preseka and giant in the East, Břilice the southeast, Vranin in the south, Horni Miletín and Dolni Miletín in the southwest, Hůrky in the west and Sádek, Horni Slověnice and Dolni Slověnice in the northwest.

History

Dunajovice First records began in 1376. 1510 under the direction of Štěpánek Netolický to replace the old Struha channel of the construction of the "golden channel " of the Lainsitz to the big fish ponds.

In 1939 on the Dunajovická hora a wooden lookout tower, which fell into disrepair after the Second World War.
