Dunedin Sound

The Dunedin Sound is a style of indie rock, which was developed in the 1980s in the New Zealand city of Dunedin. The Dunedin sound can be described as a guitar- oriented Jangle Pop in the lo-fi sound with repossessed bass lines and simple drumming. Worldwide spread of the Dunedin Sound in the 1980s was the New Zealand label Flying Nun Records and found his followers primarily in the North American and Western European indie scene. The most famous bands of the Dunedin sound are The Chills, The Clean, The Verlaines, The Bats, Sneaky Feelings which, the Straitjacket Fits and the Tall Dwarfs.
