Dursunbey

Dursunbey (formerly Balat, Greek Palátion ) is the name of a county seat and the like-named district in the Turkish province of Balıkesir. The city is located in the east of the province, about 80 km east of the provincial capital of Balıkesir. 2010, the city around 17,800 and the county had about 57,700 inhabitants. In the district there are slightly more than 100 villages.

The region is mountainous. The highest mountain of the district is 1,645 m of Alaçam. Large areas of the county are forested.

The name " Dursunbey " the city received in 1916 or 1918. Previously, she was called Balat (from the Greek for Palátion palace).
