Duson Town is a part in Acadia Parish and partly in Lafayette Parish in the State of Louisiana. In the United States Census 2000, the city had 1672 inhabitants. Patron saint of the city is Curley Duson.

The Lafayette Parish belonging to the part located in the metropolitan statistical area of Lafayette, while lying in Acadia Parish portion is part of the Micropolitan Statistical Area Dusons of Crowley.

History

Originally known as Duson Station city was by JG Parkerson, the director general of the Louisiana Western Railroad established. On August 30, 1880, the railway line from New Orleans to Houston was completed and included with the operating passenger and freight trains. In 1900 the company was merged with the Southern Pacific Railroad. As Duson Village was incorporated on 16 December 1909 and Adolph De Jean was appointed first mayor. The name was given to the place at that time by the lander NO Curley Duson.
