Gross Düssi

The majority Düssi (also Düssistock advises. Piz Git) is a 3'256 m above sea level. M. high mountain in the Glarus Alps. The summit forms a distinctive pyramid. He is a border mountain in the Swiss cantons of Uri and Graubünden.

Climbing history

The majority Düssi was first climbed in 1841 by Arnold Escher von der Linth with Gedeon Tresch along the southern ridge. This difficulty in the second degree had to be overcome.

The west ridge was first climbed in 1895 by Shawe and withe together with the leader Johann Josef Maria Tresch - Inderand.

On July 23, 1896, two unknown Englishman with Uri leaders JJ Tresch and Fr Truffer on the northwest ridge (III. difficulty) were successful.

Name

The name Düssi derives from the dialect of Uri, düssen = lurk, especially when hunting, from. On Romansh he is also called Piz and Piz Git Valgronda. Furthermore, it has been mentioned Hüfi or Huffistock, Dispeltaus and Dsipentüss.
