Dvory nad Lužnicí

Dvory nad Lužnicí (formerly also Nemecke; German leg yards ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is eleven miles north- west of České Velenice and belongs to Okres Jindřichův Hradec.

Geography

The village is located on the left side of the Mäanderlaufes Lainsitz. Neighboring towns are Hrdlořezy the northwest, Halámky in the east, Nová Ves nad Lužnicí and Žofina Huť in the south and Hranice and Dolejší Chalupy in the southwest.

History

The first mention of the village Peÿhöfen took place in 1499 in the land register of Weitra. Until 1788 the town was gepfarrt to Gmünd and in the time from 1788 to 1791 the parish church was built. During the construction took place in the chapel services.

Leg courts originally belonged to Lower Austria and was in the part of Weitraer area, which has been granted in the Treaty of Saint- Germain in 1920 Czechoslovakia. 1930 544 people lived in the village. 1939 yards leg 433 inhabitants. After the Munich Agreement of 1939, the site was assigned to the German district of Gmünd until 1945. After the end of World War II he returned to Czechoslovakia.
