École, Savoie

École is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

École is located on 736 m above sea level. M., about 21 km northeast of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the northwest of the Savoie département, in the center of the massif of the Wallows, in the middle of a wide valley basin south of the Chéran, between the peaks of Grand Colombier in the west and Mont Trélod in the Northeast.

The area of ​​29.65 km ² municipal area includes a strong section in relief of the massif of the Wallows. The central part is occupied by the basin of École, which extends in a north-south direction and has a good 1 km wide flat valley floor. History

Is first mentioned École end of the 11th century under the name of Villa Boggarum and Scola. Later, the names eSchola ( 1215) and Parrochia Scole ( 1432 ) published. In the 11th century the priory was founded in Bellevaux same remote valley east of the École. The monks reclaimed the area under cultivation around the village today.

Attractions

The parish church of Saint- Maurice was built in the 18th century and includes a Pietà of the 16th century.
