Bellecombe-en-Bauges

Bellecombe -en -Bauges is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Bellecombe -en -Bauges is located 840 meters above sea level. M., about 26 km northeast of the town of Chambery (air line). The mountain village is located in the northwest of the Savoie département, in the massif of the Wallows, on an inclined towards the south slope at the foot of the Roc des Bœufs, above the valley basin of the Chéran.

The area of 22.89 km ² municipal area includes a strong section in relief of the massif of the Wallows. Main feature are the oriented in north-south direction terrain structures. The western part of the municipality is occupied by a broad trough that is drained by the Ruisseau de Bellecombe and its tributaries for Chéran. In the west, the trough is flanked by the ridge of the Semnoz. On the southwest of the communal land extends to the Chéran, who is leaving the basin here and breaks through the edge of the chain Wallows in the cluse de Bange.

To the east, the municipality's area extends into the headwaters of the Ruisseau de Bellecombe (also Nans de Bellecombe ). This originates on the slopes of the Montagne du Charbon and flows west. He cuts through the north-south oriented chains of Dent du Char (1645 m above sea level. M. ) and Mont Julioz ( 1673 m above sea level. M. ) and Roc des Bœufs (1774 m above sea level. M. ) and Mont Chabert ( 1475 m above sea level. M. ). These mountain ranges are characterized by sharp ridges and craggy limestone peaks. The highest point is at 1907 meters above sea level. M. on the Pointe de Banc Plat ( part of the Montagne du Charbon ) achieved.

History

The first mention of Bellecombe -en -Bauges took place in 1232 under the Latinized name Pulchra Comba; 1357 the name apud Bellamcombam is preserved. The place name is composed of the words belle and combe together and means something like beautiful valley.

Attractions

The parish church of Saint- Maurice was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style. A chapel is located in Mont- Devant. In the other are the ruins of Sangle, the former mansion of Broissieux and the stone bridge Pont du Diable, which spans the Ruisseau de Bellecombe to mention.

Population

With 649 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Bellecombe -en -Bauges is one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. After the population was declining in the first half of the 20th century, an increase in population was recorded since the mid- 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Bellecombe -en -Bauges was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and Alpine village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area, especially in the area of Annecy, of its work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. Local road connections are made with Lescheraines, La Motte- en- Bauges and the Col de Leschaux. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 23 km.
